Question by Bill N: What would be a good option for a second income?
I currently work in human resources for an offshore service company in South Louisiana and make roughly 45K per year. I’m in need of a second source of income, in order to save more. My talents lie in working with people, writing, extremely positive minded, good business sense, motivational speaking, etc. I have previously attempted home base business and ended up overextending myself. I have a knack for seeing the “big picture” of business more than specific details.
All thoughts or recommendations are appreciated.

Question by maybcyaround: I’m thinking of starting a home based business. Do you know of a good, legitimate opportunity?
I’m on my way to my second career, earning my Bachelor’s degree in Education. Being a student sometimes is synonymous with being poor when your paying for everything, and have two children in the home as well. I do have some time left for another venture, and really need to generate some additional income badly if I am to continue forward with the last year and a half of my degree. The goal is to not have to take on a second job away from home that would take me away from my kids more than what I am now. That just isn’t possible. The business has to be a viable home based one, preferably something web based. One that is completely legitimate, not some sort of scam. I can supply more details about what I have to work with if you are a person that has opportunity, and would like to talk. I can be reached at maybcyaround@yahoo.com anytime. I thank you in advance, and look forward to reading your ideas!

Create a website about something that you know a lot about (recipes, how to fix a car, photography, stamp collecting…). Then you can make money by running some ads on the site. Here is a guide to getting started – http://www.richkahmer.com/make-money-online.html

Question by katie-bug: Stay at home moms, is it a good idea?
Eventually, my boyfriend and I plan to get married and have kids and all of that fun stuff. I would love to be a stay at home mom so someone can be there with our kids before they are old enough for school. He doesnt want to be the one to stay home, he said he’s go nuts. we are also planning an online business, which I plan to run for extra income while Im at home. The big question is, is staying at home worth the financial strain it can put on a relationship if the business plan flops?

Question by dklucero82: Is a home ironing business a good idea?
Ever since I could remember, I’ve actually enjoyed ironing. So recently, I’ve been thing about starting up an ironing business at home. I am a stay at home mom with a toddler, and I was just thinking about ways to earn some extra money for my family. I pretty much have everything I need to start up the business, with the exception of clothes racks and a license and business insurance. I live in large city, so I am willing to have a pick up and delivery service within 15 miles of my home. My questions for you is: Do you think it’s a good idea, and if so, how should I get started, and how much should I charge? Serious answers only please!! Thanks in advance for your answers!!

I wouldn’t try it…too many fees involved with your own home business and you’d be competing with laundromats that have already been doing this for a long time…plus a lot of people do ironing at home by themselves…it only takes a few minutes and is good to be done fresh!
